GEN-28 PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS-2 SANLIURFA 10.09 – 25.09 RENO 15 VOLS Sanliurfa Municipality is going to host an international volunteers group for the first time. The locals have Turkish, Kurdish, Armenian and Arab origins. The city is also famous for kebab foods. W: Landscaping, cleaning the green areas and repairing the children playgrounds in the city. A: In a dormitory, sleeping bag & mat are not necessary. F: Will be supplied in the dormitory. LA: English. LO: SanlıUrfa is a big city in the west of Turkey by the Syrian border. T: Istanbul. The project will start in Istanbul with a compulsory orientation meeting that all volunteers should attend on the first day of the camp. The group will travel all over Turkey from west to the south-east by coach (21 hours) on the second day of the camp. Thus 1 overnight stay in Istanbul is compulsory with an extra cost of 15 Euro on bed & breakfast basis. The meals in Istanbul and on the way to the camp site are volunteers’ responsibility until the group reaches to the camp site. The rest of the camp days will be spent in Sanliurfa province. Pre Camp Days: GENCTUR also offers an optional 2 days sight seeing tour in Istanbul before this camp. Volunteers may participate in this tour with an extra cost of 45 Euro for 3 nights bed & breakfast accommodation. The program is organized according to the wishes of the participants. ***** GEN-28, bu yıl ilk kez işbirliği yaptığımız ancak ilk görüşme yaptığımız kişinin görev değişikliği nedeniyle yerine gelenlere gerekli ve yeterli bilgiyi aktarmaması nedeniyle başlamasına 2 hafta kala iptal tehlikesi yaşadığımız bir kamp oldu. Kevser’in yıllık iznini feda edip Urfa’ya gitmesi ve bir kaç kapı aşındırması gerekti. Ancak yanlış anlaşılmalar nedeniyle gruba otelde ve 1 hafta yer ayırtılmıştı. Uzun ve ısrarlı görüşmelerin sonucunda kamp gerçekleştirilebildi. Yapılan iş de göstermelikti bu nedenle pek tatmin edici olmadı. Grup liderimiz Elvan Ergin de her gün grubu tatmin edecek bir iş bulma çabasındaydı ama ev sahipleri işten çok gösterişe önem verdiklerinden pek yararlı bir iş yapılamadı.
